TTC after 35?

Hello,

Just wondering if any of you ladies over 35 have had trouble conceiving? I already have 3 children and I was able to get pg very quickly (1-3 mos.). We have now been trying for 6 mos and not pg yet. Just curious if this could be an age issue. My others are 9, 5, and 3. Thanks.

Update:

Thanks for the info. Actually I have TCOYF and read it quite a bit. I'm even using the OvuSoft sofware. We've been charting for 6 mos. too, doing bbt's, cm, O predictors, timing sex, everything. I guess that's why I'm surprised that we haven't conceived yet. My charts look good but still no pg yet :) Maybe I'm just over thinking it all. We were planning to use Shettles to increase our chances of conceiving a girl (we have 3 boys now) but it just hasn't "taken" yet. I do appreciate your time!

I had twins at 25 and I am now 39 and scheduled to have my c-section Jan 23. My husband and I tried for 1 year and had no luck..… We tried ovulation predictors , laying with pillows under me for 20 min. everything…go get a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler

This book will help you with all of your menstrual and conception questions. It’s for all women - not just women trying to conceive. It covers everything from temperature to mucus checking, etc.. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! It tells you how to figure out your cycle and what to expe…the first month that I began using the book I realized that my timing was WRONG!. We got pregnant that very first month and I am now due Feb 2, 2007. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths! Even if you don't get into charting and everything....it will help you in so many ways!

Women over 35 take longer to conceive. The average time it takes a couple over 35 to conceive is 1-2 years, so try to remain positive if you do not become pregnant immediately.

Miscarriage is also more common in women over 35. This is often caused by increased incidence of chromosomal abnormalities. Women aged 35-45 have a 20-35 % chance of miscarriage.
