My boxer Peggy, there is something wrong, her blood test came back today?
My boxer 8 1/2 yrs has been very sick lately, the vet after taking tests says her liver has a small problem, mind you we have different languagues, Italian vs American, but then her pancreas seems to be a big problem for her continual vomiting. I am going to the next prescription of anti-vomit medicine, and will be looking up pancreas for my Peggy. Could I have prevented this? And want to help her sooo much. I would like any advice you have as I will be looking on the internet also, will try anything to make her better. By the way she is still very active, but can not hold anything down. My landlord wont be back until tomorrow, and he can talk to the vet about what is going on and what to do, but when the vet said pancreas problem, I got scared. Please respond with any kind of professional advice you have. Thank you.
My question is up for voting now, but I am loathe to pick best answer to calm me somewhat, Peggy is my everything, and in every answer I am looking for a solution, she can't leave me, and I won't leave her, I am a little overwhelmed at the moment........

This is a very common condition in boxers. I wouldn't worry about it to much. Please check out the links below to get some information. You may also want to look into a "low" fat or senior type quality dog food. Too much fat in the dog food can agrivate Pancreatitis. By quality dog food I mean Nutro Holistic, Canidae, Azmira , Solid Gold, BARF or anything recommended by The Whole Dog Journal.

Poor dog.....I would say there is nothing you could have done to prevent it. The larger breeds have a shorter life span. Like a person, as dogs age, their body begins to have problems. If you can afford the meds, try them. But if she stops eating, playing, and wanting to go out, then the time has come to put her to rest. I am sorry she is sick!

i had a dog years ago that got pancreatitis, in and out of the vet for tests for a week, came home blind one day, went back to the vet, had high blood pressure, more tests, failing kidneys caused the high blood pressure, which caused the blindness.
don't mean to scare you, but it is something that may happen. it's not fun for you or your beloved pet. i had to put him to sleep, so that he didn't suffer anymore. i hope yours recovers.
a vet once told me that animals don't know the quantity of life, they only know the quality. if you have to make the final decision, please remember the vets words to me and don't make her suffer because you want her around.

Please just love Peggy & know when to let her go (I have an 8 year old boxer with cancer who is dying-so I know exactly how you feel.)
Give your Peggy lots of hugs, and tell her that two distant cousins, Bo and Belle are praying for her.
Good luck to you both.
