If you are a US citizen you only need a ceritfied birth certificate to board a cruise ship for the year 2007. If you are trying to fly out then yes you need a passport. Most cruise lines are not in BC until April because they are going for the AK season. I would suggest taking a train. You only need a passport when flying in and out of canada. All land and sea crossings only req a birth cert.

Since this is not a closed loop cruise you would be required to have at least one of the government approved id's prior to boarding the ship. These include a valid US Passport, NEXUS Card, or Passport Card since I do not believe Arizona issues enhanced drivers licenses. If you plan on returning by air then you would require either a valid passport or a Nexus Card (passport is easier to get) prior to boarding the ship and prior to boarding your flight home. With the other two ID's you would have to arrange to travel by land either to Bellingham or Seattle and you could fly to Phoenix from there.

You should have enough time to get a passport before you leave. It should only take 4-5 weeks and for some extra money, you can get a rush on it.

It's smart to get a passport anyway, because you need it to get to more and more places these days. They last for 10 years. Chances are that you will use it again.

You can get an expedited passport for an extra $60. I just got mine in 10 days, so you better get a move on for March 1st.

And yes you need it to even DRIVE over the border.

Look at this site, and get this taken care of ASAP. Also check with the vacation package you book if the give rebates for passports. Save all your receipts.

You can still travel by road onto the US without a passport. Find a bus station and come home.

I know that you can't get back into the U.S. anymore without a passport(started in January), not even from Canada. Try to find a U.S. embassy I guess. Maybe you can contact them online.

Contact the nearest US Consulate (403) 266-8962. I presume you are from US. They will help you get necessary paperwork to get back. Do you drive? You could cross the boarder once you have your paperwork. What about the railroad? Why does it have to be a cruise ship?

If you know your congressman in US, please contact that office. They can help as well.

That's freaking sad. Do you have a cell phone or such? You hunt down your back-stabbing friend or something.

Other than that, you should call someone you know close to help you on that one. Sorry.
