You're a DJ working at a radio station in Mexico that broadcasts across the border into the US. Stations run by American companies do that because the Mexican government allows broadcasting at higher power, or at least that's how it used to be. The signal can cover way more territory, so it's cheaper to operate from Mexico. Stations like 690 AM have their radio tower in Mexico, and the signal is so powerful that they can be picked up across many counties.
