There is also a song by the title "Hallelujah" that is sometimes sung by Rufus Wainwright. It was played during the movie "Shrek" and is my favorite version of the song. I don't know if it is the same you are thinking of, but I believe YouTube has a video of the song.

Hallelujah is by Leonard Cohen but the cover by Jeff Buckley is the one most people like. I didn't see the OC episode so can't answer that part.
