Christians don't even understand the fundamentals of the bible. Do you believe in god means do you have faith

in god. Do you believe in the existence of god is another question altogether. Christians! Please differentiate between your questions. How is a man expected to understand what you are asking?

yes believing in the existence of God is not the same as having faith in God if you have faith you obviously believe in God but if you believe in the existence of God you only acknowledge He is there but not that you have faith in Him

James 2:19 says "You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder". The point James is trying to make in that passage is that there are two levels of belief: a)Belief that ....b)belief in

'Belief that' is simply an intellectual belief. It's believing that Jesus died for your sins the way you believe that 2+2=4. That doesn't save you.

'Belief in' is the type of belief where you totally commit yourself to whatever you believe in and trust in it and live for it.

I could say I believe Judy would make me a good wife. That's 'Belief that'. When I finally decide to ask her to marry me then that's 'belief in'.

I'll give you another example. Back in the 1800's there was a famous tightrope artist. One of his exhibitions is where he would put a tightrope across Niagra Falls. He would then ask the crowd, "how many of you think I can walk across this tightrope to the other side"? Everyone would raise their hands because he had done it many times in the past. That's 'Belief that'. He would then bring out a wheelbarrow and say "how many of you think I could put someone in this wheelbarrow and wheel him across and back"? Again, everyone would raise their hands because he had done that before too. That's 'Belief that'. Then he would say "who will volunteer to get into the wheelbarrow and let me wheel him across"? Not one hand would go up. That's 'Belief in'. 'Belief in' is where you actually get into the wheelbarrow and put your life into the hands of the man guiding you across.

Jesus said in Mathew 16:24 "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me".

Your question doesn't really come across as 'clear' to me.

When it comes to 'faith', I apply this; faith is a synonym to 'trust'.

But I'm not sure if you were even asking that.
