I have a German (EU) driver's license?
I got married and changed my last name and if I go back to Germany for a visit can I still drive with it? The last name will be different than my re-new passport. I asked the Buergeramt but they can't change my name because I no longer have an address/ registered anywhere in Germany. I just want to make sure I can use the Fuehrerschein legally whenever I'm there.
My fuehrerschein lasts for lifetime.

You may be able to if you carry a copy of your marriage license with you. not sure if that would work in Germany though.

Yes you can.
For changing your last name while living aboard, the German Embassy is responsible for you as long as you are still a German just having US citizenship. Like they will also have to issue you with a new passport when necessary.
To change your last name you have to make an appointment, take your marriage certificate, passport, confirmation from Buergeramt that you are not registered with them no more and husband and have the necessary papers signed. While you as a German live aborad you are still registered in the Zentralregister in Berlin to where the Embassy will send your application.
Take care

Well, do you have a German driver's license, or do you have an EU (international) driver's license? If you have a German driver's license, what's the expiration date? Some German DLs are good for life. You will still be able to drive on it, providing that you can prove you change your name. (Which shouldn't be a problem if you still look like your picture).
Best bet is to get an International Driver's license.

Yes, you can still drive in Germany as long as your Fuehreschein has not expired. Your passport has a picture of you as does your Fuehreschein. Just keep a copy of your marriage certificate with you to be on the safe side.
Also, do you still have your Personalauswiess? Does that have your married name on it? If it does, it will have your married name on it and your maiden name as well.
Also to be on the safe side, I would recommend getting your marriage certificate translated and certified in the event that you do get in some kind of accident over here and the police officer can't read English.
*EDIT* To H: She doesn't need assistance changing her name. She has already done that and gotten her new passport with the new name. But good luck with getting your name changed.
