I disabled certain programs everytime windows starts. now i need to restore/enable again. please help!?
about a week ago there was this feature on yahoo.com saying 'how to make your PC faster and windows XP run smoother..' I did what it said and disabled several (important) items from startup including sound manager. Next time i switched on Windows a confirmation message came up stating if i'd like these changes to occur or not.. and stubbornly I confirmes without noticing that I lost loads of important things. My question is I'd like to know where I went when disabling these, so that I can enable them again.
Thanks thanks thanks please help

Go to Start > Run. Type 'msconfig' and then open 'Startup' tab of the window. Check anything that you need to be back in the start up list. But, it's better to keep unnecessary items off your start up list, you know. You can always go and open them from the Programs list or from their respective folders.

You mentioned restore, that would be the easiest way. Use system restore to a date prior to the date of the changes you made.
A great, free tool to see what is starting whenever you turn on your computer is at the link below. It allows you to select individual items and it disables them. If it causes problems, just enable it. It's called autoruns, here's the link.

Click on START, RUN and type msconfig. (This starts the system configuration utility)
On the System Configuration Utility screen, select the startup tab and I am sure most of the things you changed, you will find there to correct

goto start > Run > services.msc
Look for the stopped services and RUn them.
Similarly goto start > Run > msconfig
In the startup tab select the services you want in the startup
