vsh repair?

My vsh player and recorder is chewing up tape in the beginning! I haven't taken it apart yet---what may I expect? What could be wrong and how do I fix the problem?

    VCR? for VHS tapes?

    pinch rollers are dirty and magnetized with gobs of particles.

    clean it real good or get another, as they are 30 bucks or something.
