What is the deal with "lol"?

I know what it means. I just don't understand the context.

Here's an example from an answer I recently read, "I agree Robin, lol, since their body isn't getting the proper nutrients and minerals..."

Are folks actually laughing out loud as they type? What an odd visual that brings to mind...

Well, it depends on what the question is...it may have been worthy of a "lol", but just reading the answer, doesn't make sense.

Now it really is what I evaluate a "wish and adjust" second. I nonetheless keep questioning about that Hillary second even as she promised that justice might want to be presented to those to blame for the incident. by some skill locking up the movie maker did not "do it" for the mummy and father of those killed contained in the attack. What else has been performed to convey "justice"? perchance those investigations into the movements of Hillary and Obama will do the "trick". in the different case, "what distinction does it fairly make"? maximum "low info" electorate do not even comprehend what a Benghazi is...or the position, or what got here about there. unhappy, yet real.

hell yeah, its easier when typing to lol, as opposed to create a laughing face. when sending txt on mob phone i tend to use it as Lots Of Love. as the smileys are pre programmed. well my friends are laughing or appreciating my love or both!!!
