I live by the ocean on the top floor of my building. Why does the wind sound like a ghost in a haunted house?
I have lived by the ocean before, but not so high up. I experienced hurricanes elsewhere that weren't so noisy.

Maybe because you DO have a ghost.
More likely, you have some vertical slats that are in the direction of the wind blowing. This causes a "moaning' sound to occur.

The moaning sound is caused by the wind blowing over or through some feature on your building. Engineers and architects rarely think about wind noise when designing tall buildings.
