Do Suiciders ever call 911? As in "if you are feeling suicidal, please call 911 or turn yourself in"
I mean seriously does anoyne beleive that a mental hospital, or saying hi to judgemental and generally evil police officers is going to be any better than whatever living hell they're in? Death is obviously better than being with the cops, or with white-coats that look down on you and think you're human waste, or think you're retarded.

Imagine this scenario... you are home with your newborn baby alone and depressed and feeling like you are just going to mess this kid up and feeling like your husband doesn't even like you anymore... and the baby is sleeping and you feel like you should kill yourself. No one will be home for hours. What if the baby gets scared, sick , hungry, soiled right after you kill yourself. Wouldn't this be a good time to call for help and if you had no one els to call... at least the police would be there fast in case you changed your mind and decided to do it anyway. What do you think? It may seem like a silly thing for a mental health worker to say, but for some it may be the very best choice they have in that moment.

Yes I did. I took a whole bottle of my anti-depressants and a bunch of aspirin then called 911. A dr. once said to me, "people who try to commit suicide don't necessarily want to die, they just don't want to live their lives anymore"...and a smart person will realize that a mental hospital will help them.

To answer your question, yes, suicidal people call 911 all the time. Before and during the suicide.

Don't be so naive, if they can get a chance they will. If you are thinking about suicide, you probably aren't thinking straight either. Plus, this is used more towards those who are inclined to think about it, but when they do, they can be nudged back into their normal lifestyle.
