what is the base of an obelisk?

i need to find the surface area and the volume of the washington monument

    I'm pretty sure it's a square. The Washington monument is like a pyramid on top of a truncated pyramid.

    The base of an obelisk is square, and at the top there is a pyramid figure (four sides coming to a point)
