Serious Question...Why do Atheists even care about Religion and Spirituality?

It doesn't make much sense to me.

Update:

my screen said this question had never been asked. but i agree it has to have been asked in some form or another before.

Update 2:

I didn't know this question is asked alot in here. I am just interested in knowing that's all.

Update 3:

People with beliefs I disagree with come to my door but they don't offend me. I just tell them I'm not interested or maybe even listen to what they have to say.

Well, the biggie is the attempt by certain Christians to legislate their religion into American law.

A lot of deliberate misinformation gets passed around here about other faiths or science. Someone has to step up and point out the errors. Who better than atheists?

That and the tendency of the theists to try to get their superstitions forced into law or science, efforts to legislate moreality for everyone else, interference with scientific progress, attempts to get (their) religion taught in public schools, and so on.

Besides, since when do you have the idea that some of us might not be interested in R and S? Emphasis on the S, mostly. Some of the most spiritual people I've known have been agnostics and non-Christians.

Because Christians force their views on us. I ask an agnostic question and the board is filled with people talking about me going to hell and praying for me.

I was a Christian then I woke up. I realized the 80,240 a year average we pay pastors (fact, look it up) goes to buy the pastor nice suits and new cars all while poor people are giving their 10% hoping to get in gods good grace. pfft.

Anyhow, If Christians didn't force their garbage down our throat, I wouldn't say anything. But, when the Mormons and Witnesses come to my door I make them leave questioning their own ideas. Just like the retards outside of walmart trying to "share God" I've confused more of them than I care to count. MOST christians have clue what their 10% goes to, nor do they care about the 25,000,000 people a year that starve to death all while you sit in a comfy air conditioned 10,000,000 church.

Here's an idea, stop helping church to buy trillions and trillions of dollars a year on material items and start feeding "Gods children"

I don't want your religion, and once you guys stop trying to cram the "truth"(lol) down my throat, I'll stop putting you all in your place.

OH, and Marie Jane..." America is what it is BECAUSE of it's belief in God, In God We Trust has been on our money for a very long time, and if you don't like it, go away!"

thats not how it is and I hope you don't honestly believe that. America was a place for people to practice THEIR own religion, not YOURS. Get your facts straight.

You've heard about that museum in Kentucky, haven't you? The one full of mistruths and bent logic? Someday soon, a school bus full of kids is going to visit that thing. Those kids will leave thinking they've had an experience with science. They haven't.

You do know that the words "under God" were inserted by fundamentalists into the original Pledge of Alliegence against the will of the original author's family, right? And that these words were added quite recently in American history. Doesn't that go against this country's constitution when that very same constitution guarantees one the right to freedom of religion?

Money came out of our pockets for putting the Ten Commandments on public property. Even more money came out of our pockets to later remove them. They're called taxes.

Open your mailbox, email, or front door, and sooner or later there will be religious conversion attempts awaiting you. Most of these attempts are pretentious enough to insist that you are presently living in sin and damned to Hell for not yet signing up as one of their members.

Turn on your radio. The music is censored because of the FCC, using rules influenced by religious groups. Freedom of speech dies even more with "edited for television" movies. So why rate them, again?

Atheists care about this section because religion affects every last one of us. Whether one believes or not.

It may be asked often, but we all like to gather around the watercooler to have a shot.

It's the Spiritual portion of this segment, and perhaps now that I'm here; to volley alittle..

    Welcome..

Many Atheists are very spiritual. We can connect with the world just like Christians.

How is this a "serious question?" It's asked about 100 times a day.

Does this count as a drinking question? I'm confused.

Seriously have you not noticed this has been asked 500 times?

Because religion constantly interferes in and restricts our lives.

Some religious people want to kill us, and others want us to pay to have the first group killed.

Hmm, here is one reason to care about religion:

As for spirituality, most atheists I know are very spiritual people... They meditate, they enjoy nature's beauty, and they're thoughtful.

I don't personally care what your belief is.

I do very much care when you try to have your religious belief written into law so that all people, whether they believe in it or not, must follow it.
