Do you think it is rude not to chose a best answer?

If someone answers your question with helpful and correct information shouldn't they vote them best answer,or should they just leave it up to others to decide if it helped them?I have seen some answers that were not helpful get best answer because friends voted for them.If there is more than one correct and helpful information then the person should chose which one was best for them.

you are right. i totally agree with u. i dont see why someone should waste his/her time to answer a question and the person who asked the qusetion just decides not pick a best answer. its just so irritating and rude of them.

Well, the problem is, not everyone stays on as long as some of us do. For example, my coworker introduced me to Yahoo Answers, she had been doing it for almost a year, she was still on level 1 and basically all she would do was ask questions about certain things she wanted to know about. She would rarely answer them. Anyway, when I started, I was hooked, line and sinker. I started learning more about how to look up things, how to earn points, etc. etc., and now she actually answers and has earned quite a few points.

But, Back to the question at hand, she doesn't get on Yahoo Answers every day, she does it mostly during the work week, and she usually forgets about her questions and they expire. I, on the other hand, am constantly checking my profile, etc. etc. The only time I don't choose a best answer is if I can't decide.

I said all of that to say, some people don't know enough about checking profiles to go back and check for best answer, I know, I know, you do get the reminder e-mail, but if they are like my friend, they may have been off the computer for a few days, so therefore their question expired. So, no, I don't necessarily think that they are being rude. I just think they post their question and run.

Yes, I do think it's rude if someone doesn't choose a best answer. Just as questions deserve answers; people who answer, deserve a thank you. The person asking the question should definitely pick a best answer and not leave it up to someone else.

The person who got and needed the help should give the answer that helped them best answer.I believe alot of people who ask questions don't even know your suppose to pick an answer.I really like getting a note when they use mine saying it helped and that i like better then the points. At least you feel you helped someone. But if you notice the questions and answer site isn't being used as it was meant to be.It's become a chat room and a game for alot of users.I see alot of cheating just to get point's.Tell me what sense does that make to get points by cheating and there worthless.Have a good weekend.

I agree. Especially about how they don't always give the best answer their due but give it to A terrible answer that friends voted on. I don't mind not getting the best answer. It's just not going to happen every time, but I do get frustrated when A bad answer gets it.

Yes, ma'am. I vote for the best answer sometimes, but I can't help but think that the person who actually asked it is the best judge. "Best Answer" doesn't mean all your problems were solved, it just means that someone had the least crappy answer. Give them some points!!

No through fact some human beings bypass off the twine with their solutions that don't even experience the question. additionally some human beings write impolite comments. choosing an answer as best just to %. undermines the finished thought of best answer.

yep. it is just plain rude. it is sort of like holding the door open for someone and having them breeze through, not look at you, and in point of fact, act as if you don't exist.

Or...like taking the time to help someone with a project and have them act as if it is their right to have you help them. Oh well...there are many boorish people in the world now who can be gauche at times. I will still answer, since I enjoy this forum, and it really doesn't matter to me, since I derive my pleasure from the experience. :D

People do get busy and don't check back sometimes or don't bother. It is sort of rude though, since someone else took time out of their life to try to help that person.

I think it's even more important to give a little feedback, a little hey thanks- i picked your anser as the best one because.... That's always nice to get.

But it's a forgivable offense. There are more critical things to worry about in this world.

Yes, I agree... they should choose a best answer. They asked the question, and people were nice enough to answer, so they should pick one!!
