Overdue! When is labor?

Well i'm due on tuesday and have had no normal signs i know of that would lead me to think i'm almost there. So i just want to hear your experiences with signs and things that happened days before you delivered. Also i'm not even sure what contractions would feel like ( no back pain, only sharp pains and lots of pressure in my abs and pelvis right now)

i will say this is my first child, havent lost my mucus plus, i can sleep at nite but wake up constantly to pee, no real surge of energy to nest because i own a cleaning company anyway so its hard to tell if its just work or energy. I have small cramps and yesterday there was lots of painful pressure closer to the pelvis and i felt like i had to use the bathroom (poop) but nothing came outl. they were regular a while but then stopped the rest of the nite. Now today he is barely moving, which he is very hyper most of the time, and i have even walked 1 hour a nite for the past week and nothing.

so any stories would be great to hear

Update:

please dont tell me to go to the doctor cause i have no regular contraction that are hard enough to stop me from talking...i just want to compare experiences. also i can dothat in denmark....u have to call them first and they will just tell u to stay home til its bad....and i'm going to my midwife in an hour.

Update 2:

i know this may sound corny but i would appreciate any good thoughts or prayers that he is born wednesday. that is the day my husbands dad died and he wants it to be that day. i hope so.

Update 3:

we don't have baby doctors in denmark....only midwifes. and they don't check dialation so i have no idea about that. And he was dropped 4 weeks ago. Also i know my due date is right because i have a email to my mom on the last day i started, so it should be the right time. Guess he's just having a party.

It doesn't sound like you're going to go into labor any time soon, to be honest. If you've been going to your pre-natal check ups regularly and your OB is not concerned, then you should also not be concerned.

As you get further along in your pregnancy, your baby will not move as much as he did during your late second trimester because there simply isn't as much room for him to move around in. It's no cause for concern. If you are concerned, do a kick count: drink a glass of orange juice or cold water before to ensure the most activity as possible.

Many women don't lose their mucus plug until actual labor, so I wouldn't even worry about it.

Getting up to use the bathroom frequently is also normal, because of the pressure of your heavy, baby-filled uterus against your bladder.

Don't get excited about any comments about how effaced or dilated you are, either, because a woman could be 75 % effaced and 4 cm dilated and not deliver for weeks... or be 1 cm dilated and not at all effaced and deliver that very evening.

How could I tell I was close to delivery? Two things: my lower back really, really started to ache. I felt the need to sit down and take a load off my back continually. And also, I had the runs... that's the body emptying out in preparation for delivery and very common.

If you're not feeling sure about this, call your OB, but to be honest, it sounds to me like your EDD is off by a couple of weeks. Take this time to rest up, since you'll need your strength for delivery and for taking care of your baby after!

You body is almost there. You will feel labour when it begins, and you will know for sure!

Right now, just try not to look at the clock or the calender (this will happen alot when you are in the hospital), do something you really enjoy, keep on walking, have your favorite foods, fold some baby cloths, listen to music etc. This time is your time, and you should use it well before baby is in your arms. Your body will go into labour when it is ready, and even though according to your doctor you are 'overdue' your baby and body might know something they don't. He might not be ready to come out quite yet.

The slowing down in movement at this stage is very normal. He is probably head down, feeling pretty cramped in there, and is saving his energy for his big day.

Good luck. I'm very excited for you!

all the symptoms you mention here are normal for an almost due baby. if you do not have contractions does not mean that you are not ready though. my baby was not due for another week but i had to be induced. as someone suggested try walking lots and also a warm bath will feel good and relax your muscles. my midwife used to suggest lots of sex too so that we start labour on our own.

this did not happen though, i was induced a week before my due date cause of a maturing placenta. i had my waters broken (you'd be amazed at the amount of water there is!!) and was on a drip the whole way.

you mention the pooping urge, my mother had that too she always says, and then i was on the way!

    Good Luck :o)

Labor start differently for everyone. From the looks of it you may be getting ready. cramps and pressure aren't always indicators but could be signs that labor is near. I always had small stomach tightness but little pain for a few days. The pooping thing really doesn't happen until the last few minutes of labor for me. A good indicator that labor is starting is a pinkish mucus when you wipe after you pee.

walk like crazy (for hours), mow the lawn, do dishes by hand, clean the house (again), have great orgasmic sax (this will be the last time for months anyway), take natural laxatives...

Ive done all of these, and it still seems like they come when they want to. Make sure to moniter fetal kicks, though they usually get alot more quiet right near the end of prego.
