Which other wrestler died?

The news said that two other wrestlers, besides Benoit, had died in recent weeks. I know Sensational Sherri was one of them, but does anyone know who the other one was? And no, I'm not talking about McMahon or whoever else was supposedly in the car with him. It's someone who really died.

They could not have been talking about "Latino Heat" Eddie Guerrero because he died almost two years ago.

Sensational Sherry has died recently, and now Benoit.

I have not heard of any others. I know they are not talking about vince because that damn asshole is still alive.

Crash holly has also been gone for a long time so it couldn't have been him.

Eddie Guerrero, Sensational Sherri, Crash Holly, and now Chris Benoit.

I dont recall any other wrestler dead, but maybe they were talking about Eddie Guerrero, who died in 2005, but i have heard of no other deaths except Sherri and Benoit.

  • 1 decade ago

I haven't seen anything about another wrestler dying in the last few weeks. Unless they were referring to Chris Benoit's wife who worked in WCW as "Woman"

  • 1 decade ago

I don't know but i think they meant that faking mcmahon's death and then sherri and benoit died, then he said it will be under scrutiny or whatever. Meaning hes gunna get alot of heat for faking his death and then this stuff happens.

Thats what i got from it.

//->> OPENING WORDS FROM THE EDITOR

    Colin Vassallo -[editor@wrestling-online.com]-

As I watched RAW earlier today and saw the images of Chris Benoit hugging

his wife and kissing his son after his WrestleMania XX win at Madison Square

Garden, it made me sick. Knowing what he did to them, that image shouldn't

have even been on television. Chris Benoit may have lived a split

personality life. Good guy at work and a pain at home. As you will read in

the news below, the man we knew on WWE TV or when we met at autograph

signings wasn't the same person who went back at home. You don't just wake

up one fine day and decide to whack your entire family. It must be a

culmination of events over a period of time that finally triggers that

    ticking time bomb.

Yesterday's RAW was a tribute to the man we called the Canadian Crippler,

and that nickname pretty much sums it all up. We witnessed his greatest

moments in his career, heard from his closest workers who knew this loving

guy who tore the house down everytime he stepped foot inside that squared

    circle.

I have a framed picture on the side of my desk of Rey Mysterio, myself and

Benoit with his arm around my shoulder which was taken during the

WrestleMania XX weekend. It's a great picture, taken just a day before he

won the World Heavyweight championship at MSG. I sit here, look at it with

mixed feelings. While I will never put in doubt his abilities in the ring as

a performer and what he accomplished over his 22 year career, my respect for

Chris Benoit is close to zero, if not zero. It might sound harsh so early on

at this stage, but the truth is, I can never feel the same way about a

person who took the life of his wife and especially his son who I'm pretty

sure had nothing to do with any of the differences he and his wife had.

    > SHOCKING DETAILS OF THE BENOIT FAMILY MASSACRE

    - A couple of hours ago, a press conference was held in front of reporters

headed up by Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard and Lt. Tommy

Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. The cause of death for all

three members is asphyxiation, as Chris Benoit first strangled his wife with

an electric cord and then smothered his seven year old son with a bag. His

wife was found in the living room while his son was in his bedroom upstairs.

Chris was found in the weight room in the basement hanging from the pulley

of a weight machine. During the press conference they said that Nancy was

killed on late Friday night, his son on Saturday and Chris on early Sunday

morning as opposed to Saturday, Sunday and Monday as previously noted. When

a reporter asked how long after he killed his son Chris did the suicide the

answer was, "Several hours later but not more than a day." He placed a copy

of the Bible next to the dead bodies of his wife and son. His 43 year old

wife Nancy had blood on the back of her head and her body was wrapped in a

towel with hands and feet tied up. A lot of prescribed medications were

found by CSI's although it's believed that they were all legally given to

him by doctors and anabolic steroids were also found in the house. No motive

was given at this time although they did give an indication that they might

know the real story why this happened. Benoit sent a text message to one of

his co-workers - believed to be Chavo Guerrero - but details of the message

    were not revealed.

    > FAMILY ABUSE DATES BACK TO 2003

    - The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has revealed information on the personal

life of Chris and his wife Nancy, saying that Nancy - who was part of WCW

playing the character Woman - filed for divorce and an order of protection

four years ago, in May of 2003. According to the divorce papers, Chris has

threatened to hit her multiple times and even caused damage to their home

furniture and personal belongings. The judge presiding the case issued a

restraining order against the former champ and prevented him from entering

their house. His wife dropped the case later that year and the two resumed

their relationship afterwards. TMZ.COM managed to get the papers in

question, which you can read at

    http://www.aolcdn.com/tmz_documents/0626_benoit_di... The two moved

in together in 1997 after they carried their WCW on-screen relationship to

real life and got married in 2000. Together they had one child, Daniel, who

was also killed in the attack. Benoit has two other children from a previous

relationship, David and Megan, who were not in the house and don't live with

    their dad.

    > SHOW WILL GO ON TONIGHT

    - Tonight's Smackdown! and ECW tapings will go on as usual, taping from the

AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX., however there will be no angles or funny

backstage vignettes and the shows will instead focus on wrestling matches.

Those who don't feel like going out and doing the job are free to refuse

although everyone booked is expected to get in the ring. Dave Meltzer of the

Observer says that everyone backstage was wrecked by the news and Vince

McMahon held the whole team up. Long time friends and co-workers of Benoit

are still having a hard time accepting the fact what Benoit did to his own

    family.

    > WWE.COM QUICKLY REMOVING ALL BENOIT RELATED ITEMS

    - As the day progresses and more news comes out from yesterday's Benoit

family massacre, WWE.COM keeps removing anything related to Chris Benoit.

While yesterday the whole page was dominated by Benoit videos and articles,

today only the main feature is about the former champion, linking to an

article with the headline 'Benoit's death part of a double murder-suicide'.

All Chris Benoit items on the WWEShop.com online shopping site have been

removed, quite probably to remove any association with what facts are point

to - Benoit being a murderer. TNAWrestling.com, the official website of TNA,

also removed the earlier posting about Chris Benoit's death.

    > HART FAMILY TALKS ABOUT BENOIT

    - "It's almost like reliving the whole Owen death over again." Those were

the words of former WWE and WCW champion Bret 'Hit Man' Hart when being

interviewed by the Calgary Sun regarding the death of Chris Benoit and his

family. Hart said that he doesn't know the details yet, and probably doesn't

want to know. He said his whole family took it really hard as Benoit was

like a member of the Hart family. Bret Hart's brother Ross and sister Diana

also gave comments, which you can read at

    //->> OVER THE TOP

    By Jon Beck -[jonathan.e.beck@gmail.com]-

After my last column, I told all of you that I would be writing on a more

regular basis. And this is true. It's just that with the Vince McMahon

angle, I didn't see anything that was really worth analyzing. I didn't

particularly care for the angle, though I must admit, it was a pretty good

marketing choice, and an original story, at least from a wrestling

perspective. Today, I decided not to watch RAW because I didn't want to see

any more of the Vince McMahon saga unfold before my eyes. I laid down to

take a nap, woke up, and checked one of the many wrestling news sites. Then

I read my instant messages, one of which from my sister, the other by my

colleague Chris Bernes. Both said the same thing:

"Chris Benoit and his family are dead. WWE canceled RAW and they are running

a special." Man, I wish I had watched it all.

My colleagues that know me know that I'm usually not one to

overly-emotionalize my work. I don't particularly care to overplay

situations of tragedy in the business. Since I started following wrestling

nearly 20 years ago, I've seen a lot, most of whom I grew up watching, come

and go. Rick Rude. Brian Pillman. Curt Hennig. Owen Hart. Eddie Guerrero.

    Now, Chris Benoit.

Like many of my colleagues, I grew up watching the Pegasus Kid fly. Very

rarely do you see a wrestler who is both an outstanding mat technician and

high flyer. Not only that, but Chris Benoit was just a good entertainer.

This great mat technician and equally-good high flyer was reported as a

family man who was, by all reports, genuinely an all-around good guy. He was

also one of the few wrestlers I did not get to see at a live event.

I hear people offering condolences, saying the traditional "Rest in Peace."

But folks, when a man, his wife, and 7-year-old kid are senselessly killed,

it strikes me that this is not an appropriate thing to say. By all accounts,

during this tragedy, Chris Benoit was not at peace. He left the last Pay Per

View due to "an emergency/illness in the family." Slated to win the ECW

World Title, Chris Benoit would not have walked out of that event for

nothing. One minute he was on the road, making a hasty exit to be with his

family. The next, Chris Benoit and his whole family were found dead at their

    home.

Speculations are running rampant concerning the identity of the person

responsible for such a tragedy, but as of this writing, the talk is that it

was a murder/suicide. I am not going to speculate further; there is no need.

The point here is that three people were killed, all of which long before

    their time.

It is always a tragedy when someone dies before their time. But it's even

more of a tragedy when a man and his family are killed. Still worse is when

you hear that a 7-year-old boy was involved in the slaughters.

I don't think there's anything more that needs to be said. I could say that

wrestling has lost another one of his great heroes, one who would have been,

no doubt, a legend. It is a shame that in his death he is catapulted to that

status far earlier than initially thought. I can say that the world has lost

another good man. All of these are true. But for a man to lose himself and

his family in a senseless homicide doesn't seem to do these statements

    justice.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Benoit family and all of their close

friends and relatives. I will miss watching him on television. I will miss

watching him for what he was--one of the business's best wrestlers. It'll be

a while before we see a new face in wrestling that measures up to the talent

and professionalism of Chris Benoit. I suppose that if there is any sense to

be made of all this, then at least we can say one thing positively: Chris

Benoit died with his family. I don't think he would have had it any other

    way.

It's true that I'm not usually one for emotional articles or overplaying the

magnitude of tragedies. It's also true that in this case, I just can't help

    it.

    //->> THE CHAIR SHOT

    By Kevin I. Dodge -[kidodge@yahoo.com]-

I'm sitting here, it's Monday night, and I'm watching Raw. It's a special

tribute to the life and career of Chris Benoit. I have a lot of emotions

running through me right now. Chris has always been such a role model for

me, personally. In the wrestling world, he was all you could ever ask for in

a consummate professional. Both backstage and in the ring.

I can remember going to wrestling school, just outside of Portland, OR., and

every Monday night we would stop wrestling early to watch Raw and Nitro. We

would switch back and forth and pick the best match to watch at the time.

When Benoit stepped into the ring, it didn't matter who the WWE had

wrestling, I refused to let anyone touch the remote. Benoit was my idol. I

wanted to watch every move he performed. I would practice his moves when I

was at the gym alone. I remember the first time I did a flying head butt

from the top rope. I used a heavy bag as my opponent and would lay it down

in the middle of the ring. My first flying head butt resulted in a black

eye, a bloody nose, and two fat lips. I felt like an idiot. But the more I

practiced, the better I got. And when it came time for my first match, I

used my flying head butt with great crowd reaction.

As I watch RAW tonight, I am having a lot of trouble fighting back the

tears. I never got to meet Chris Benoit, but he was such an inspiration in

my wrestling life, that I feel as if he almost mentored me. I was told since

high school that I was way to small for wrestling. Well, Chris was the same

height as me, 5'9". And because of that I was sure that I could make it in

the pro wrestling world. I worked extremely hard in the gym to put weight on

and learn to compete, hopefully, on the same level as Benoit. My instructor

started calling me "Superstar", because I picked up wrestling moves so

easily and naturally. Well, it had nothing to do with me being smart. It had

everything to do with studying the masters of the sport, especially Chris

    Benoit.

The real 3 amigos isn't Eddie's 3 suplexes in a row. It is Eddie Guerrero,

Chris Benoit, and Dean Malenko. Now, we only have one left, and

unfortunately he isn't in the ring anymore. I really feel for Dean Malenko.

He has lost his two lifelong best friends in the last 2 years. Dean must

feel very alone. My heart goes out to you Dean.

Things may be different by the time you read this, but as it stands right

now, the Fayetteville Sheriff's Dept. is saying it is being investigated as

a double homicide/suicide. If that is true, I can't even begin to imagine

what was going through Chris's head. I really hope what I hear is not true.

How could life be so bad that you would kill your wife and child and then

take your own life. I think of my two children. My son just turned 2 and I

have a 7 month old daughter. Life could never be so bad as to take my own

life, much less theirs. It's wrong for me to suspect or accuse anyone of

    anything.

Even though he never new it, Chris Benoit was a huge influence in my life. I

guess I can just hope that I can affect one persons life to the extent that

he has affected mine. Thank you very much for everything you have given us,

the wrestling fan. The courage and tenacity you showed inside the ring. As

well as your compassion and professionalism when the camera's were off.

I'm sorry for making this so short. I just wanted to share my thoughts and

memories. My prayers and thoughts go out to the whole Benoit family. I pray

that Chris, Nancy, and Daniel's deaths were not in vain.

    Thank you Chris.
