My hamster can't put any weight on his front paws?

I noticed this morning that my hamster hadn't touched his food. So I dug him out of his bed and it appears that he can't put any weight on his front paws. He was sort of hopping around on his back feet. I got him to drink some water, but wasn't interested in food, not even his favorite treats.

Three nights ago he escaped (my boyfriend removed his wheel because it was broken and apparently the hamster came with it). Anyways he was found three floors down. We thought he might have gotten hurt, but he was fine until now. Any ideas as to what is wrong, i can't figure out how he could have hurt himeself in his cage (his wheel is solid and there are no bars).

Is this a common thing in hamsters? Also wondering if maybe he could have eaten something bad while he escaped. He is only about 1 years old and has no health problems before.

I keep a clean large aquarium for him.

Update:

Also if anyone knows of any vets in the Victoria B.C. area that specializes in small rodents could you let me know

Update 2:

No I didn't drop him.

Also I'm not adversed to taking him to a vet, I just want to be educated when i go in, as vets commonly try to screw people over

maybe, it might be fractured, or sprained. Try to bring it to the vet, or if you feel it is getting better, try to not let it climb about. let it recover. put more shavings or bedding to cushion its movements.

    Good luck :)

First, you're able to diagnose the difficulty. The limp could be brought about by utilising a sprained ligament from too lots engaged on that wheel, or he might have a fracture in certainly one of his leg bones. in case you may not have the money for to get him an X-ray to rule out the fracture, then you fairly could manage for a fracture. (interior the destiny, you're able to set aside money weekly to save up for such expenditures, or you're able to refrain from possessing pets). Take 2 toothpicks and ruin them so as that they are approximately 4/5 's the scale of the affected leg. place those splints on the two area of the leg and wrap the leg with 1cm extensive strips of skinny cotton fabric dipped in plaster of paris. in case you have not have been given plater of paris, you may desire to modge podge the solid on the leg. The leg will stay casted for 6 weeks. throughout that element, you will could pass him around his cage or fashoin for him a small wheeled cart or crutches (in spite of the indisputable fact that I even have under no circumstances considered a hamster grasp the crutches). when you get rid of the solid, all could be nicely. As an ingredient notice, some human beings have an issue getting their hamster to stay nonetheless on a similar time as employing the solid. you may could flick it interior the top which incorporate your finger to knock it subconscious or stick it in a paper towel tube with the injured appendage putting out. At any fee, after he's healed, he will choose a softer play area to keep away from re-harm, so 8 to ten inches of goose feathers will probable do the trick.

His paws are probably paralysed or the blood is not rushing into them. Pick him up and touch his paws and see how he reacts. If he doesn't perk up, a visit to the vet would be appropriate.
