for a first up effort pretty good, first some critique which you must take on as pointers to future improvement, please not as me being a meanie

    - there seems to be alot of "photographers shadow" in your images

    - the exposure is out on a few (1/2 to 1 stop or more)

    - some of the images are very soft (blurry) where they shouldnt be

    - view points require more thought

ok now some ideas for you

    - use a tripod - will help you get sharper images

    - look at what your shooting (dont photo your own shadow)

    - use a reflector (white paper is ok) to give more light to your subjects and fill in the shadows better

    - dont shot how you and everyone else sees these objects thats boring, shot from different angles, low to high for example instead of mainly from normal view point

    - learn about composition - how the subject sits in the frame

Ok take a deep breath that is over,

The cacoons are amazing! just crop out the little bit of one on the left so theres only three,

If you can find them again use a tripod and shoot as many images as you can they are so cool!

Some sensitivity there which is pleasing - the yellow flowers against the field,

Keep at it theres a good start there.

Have you tried looking into using a bellows system for your macro photography? If you check into this method you will see that you don't need a macro lens to get very very close and very sharp photos. This method was around long before they made macro lenses.

How do you pick a best answer for this Q. Your work is good and I love the cocoons, how did you find them? Your work is typical for floral macro and insects. If you are shooting at high resolution (7MP+) you can use cropping as another method of macro effects and get in even closer to your subject. Try it on the cocoons... select one and crop it out from the rest and see the difference in the effect. Keep up the good work.

    6 out of 10.

you have some post processing work to do but over all your composition isnt too bad. You really capture the colors really nicely.
