Because cats can sense when something is wrong like someone hurt, in pain, upset, dieing,or when someones having a baby.Cats are very smart and the cat probably wants to be near her because she just had surgery and isnt feeling that good.

I saw an article recently where a cat in an old folks home sensed when one of the old folks was going to pass away. The cat would go and curl up beside the individual and generally the next day the person would die. This is not the case of your sister, don't get me wrong it is just another case of a cat being intuitive. Let him do his thing, I'm sure he is good company for sis.

Its a god idea to leave kitty in your home instead of boarding him in a cattery - IF you can arrange for a responsible person to come in everyday to; (1) check how kitty is doing (2) clean the litter box (3) lay out fresh food in a clean bowl and FRESH WATER in another clean bowl (4) will take kitty to the vet if something goes wrong Before you go, make your house "Cat-Safe" - think "Child-safe" - 1. Don't leave medications, household cleaners and other toxins where the cat can get to them. 2. Remove all strings, yarns, rubber bands, etc that the kitten may chew on or ingest - can cause serious intetinal blockages 3. Make sure all windows and doors are securely locked and kitten-proofed 4. Leave your Vet's telephone number and your emergency number to the person who is going to stop by and feed your kitten while you are away. Have a happy and safe trip!

Wow. What a nice, sensitive animal.

It's really nice to have a cat like that.

I had a beautiful old girl, Sweetie, who stayed with me constantly for two weeks when my Dad passed away.

I was devastated, and she knew. If she heard me crying

any time, even before losing my Dad, she'd come running,

and I loved her a lot.

Can you believe someone had dumped her when she was about 12 years.

I've heard, and believe, that cat's can sense when a person is sick or not feeling well. I know whenever I am not feeling good my oldest cat follows me everywhere.

some cats and dogs know when their owner is feeling sick or have recently got sick. They are worried that their owners will pass with out them by your side. My dog Coco is the same way she is always folowing me makeing sure im always ok. She even sleeps by my nose at night to make sure im still Breathing.

Cats are extremely empathetic animals, Hon. Your cat is sleeping next to your sister because he realizes that she's just been through a traumatic experience, and he seeks to comfort and "protect" her :)

Somehow your cat senses that your sister just went through a very serious experience. Allow him to do what he is doing. He hasn't forgotten you he is just empathetic towards your sister while she recuperates.

he can tell that something happened. a lot of cats are like that. they can sense when your sad, or sick, and apparently if you have had surgery. if like they you, then they want to help you through the tough times.
