Opinions on newer Saturns, please, especially VUE.?
My husband's 2000 Saturn S has 110K miles, and we are thinking of replacing it next summer with a gently used VUE. I have a 95 Saturn, and we have been very happy with them -- cheap and reliable, basically. I have heard bad things about newer Saturns, VUEs in particular. In short, I'd like a yea or nay from current or former owners of 2005+ Saturns. Thanks!

I have had three Saturns myself and I have loved them (99 SL, 03 L200, and 04 Ion). I have never had any problems with any of them (the key in maintenance with Saturns). I haven't heard any bad things about the VUE's, but sites like Yahoo! Autos, Cars.com, Consumer Reports, and Kelly Blue Book usually have reviews from people who have had personal experience with a particular model as well as professional reviews. Check them out and go from there:-) Good Luck!

Get you a car a step or two higher on the totem pole and a few years older. If those MPG figures in that earlier post are true, you can get a v6 car that gets that kind of MPG figure (okay, a little shorter in the city) and is just a better all-around car. You get what you pay for. The fact that you bring noted tin cans like the Yaris and a Korean POS like the Aveo into the mix makes me cringe. A good thing about my friend letting his daughter drive a 94 Grand Marquis as a first car...190 horsepower can erase stupid driving (pulling out into intersections) a lot easier than a car with half the power and the extra heft doesn't hurt, either.

The VUE is horrible.
It's build quality is bad- lots of thin plastic- it has NO power, rides bad, and is unreliable. The wheel bearings go about every 45k. Gas mileage is good but not class leading or anything. You would be better off with almost any other car.
