Moving to NY what is best time ?
I want to know what time of year like spring, summer, winter,
fall. How much luggage to carry for 6 moths to stay. What will
it cost if I stay with friends, I don't want to rely on my friends for money ?

Spring brings a fresh outlook on life. For six months, you have to figure at least $100 a week, not including room and board. So $2600. Then you need to ask if you should contribute some of the rent money.

I want to preface my answer by saying I live in NYC so I'm speaking from experience.
I would absolutely not do it in winter, the weather can be quite foul during this time and may make moving a real pain. Depending on what you are used to it may also be quite nasty to live in. Now perhaps you are from Maine or something, if so, then I'm sure you can handle it.
The summers are real hot... but you know, You can probably deal with it!
As far as staying with friends I'm confused, are you saying you have friends in NYC to stay with or you wanting to come to NYC with a group of friends? if it's the latter that may be very difficult. Getting an apartment in NYC is a serious pain in the *** and it'll be hard to find anywhere that wants to lease for only 6 months. NYC apartments are also extremely expensive. Again depending on where you live now ... you may or may not be shocked. (if you live in San Fran for example, you should be fine.)
