How come Osama has been so elusive? Was he ever trained by the CIA?

Yes - During the Russian/Afghan War the CIA funded him to set up a training camp in Peshawar for the guerrillas fighting the Russians. The name of the camp was Al Qaeda.

The CIA supplied weapons including 1,000 Stinger surface to air missiles to shoot down Russian planes. 500 of these weapons are still unaccounted for.

There is no hard evidence that Osama, himself was trained by the CIA; however he did help with the funding for CIA backed training Camps of the Mujaheddin(?)fighters in the early 80's and up until the Soviet withdrawl from Afghanistan in 1989.

So while he may not have been trained "by the CIA" say at Langley,VA it is a fair bet that he knows the ropes of Intelligence/Counterintelligence, basic weapons training, first aid, demolitions, uses of political assassinations and all of the other things that CIA instructors would teach anti-Soviet insurgent fighters.

From that point it is hard to figure out why he is so elusive as the CIA is well known for never allowing anyone to jump ship. Most likely he is either dead--and just trotted out when the powers that be need a bogeyman--or he is still on the black ops pay roll--and trots himself out on cue when a bogeyman is needed to frighten the sheeple.

Why do people keep insisting that the US trained or funded Osama Bin laden ?

Osama, was a financier of the Foreign mujaheddin fighting in Afghanistan.

He didn't need US money, he had money from the middle east sources.

There have been no credible reports that have ever showed that the US ever had any dealings, training or financial with Osama bin Laden.

I'm not sure if it was the CIA that trained him or another branch, but the government did train Osama and others like him.

Well he is constantly moving, and he still has people loyal to him. The military believes that he is in the border with Pakistan, so we can’t, and the Pakistanis won’t let us, get him. The CIA part is a joke right?

he is hiding in the border tribal society dependant on the money from outside. the Osmama brings them and still he is kinda hero for those people. more than that they probably still maintain the habit of not hurting fellow muslim while he is in their compound. As long as he has money he is able to avoid the capture.
