I need some feedback on E.Jones Investment?

My son has a trust he wants to move to Edward Jones Investments. What I want to know is if anyone knows anything about this company.

Edwards Jones does have a perfectly fine reputation. The issue isn't so much the firm...while that IS important to a certain extent...what matters most is the individual Advisor that your son will be working with.

The previous answer referred to E.J. having "more offices than any other firm"...well, that's because most "major" firms (Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, etc) have many Advisors working in large offices. (i.e. when I was with Morgan Stanley...14-17 brokers/advisors) Edward Jones is typically (majority of the time) a "one man shop".....sometimes with some limited staff or assistant...so, each "office" is made up of 1-5 people (not necessarily advisors, but people).

Edward Jones is just as fine a firm as any other "decent size" investment firm. They do have a high "Advisor satisfaction" score with their brokers, pretty consistently.

Again, the important issues are...how KNOWLEDGEABLE and ETHICAL the advisor is...that will determine the quality of experience your son will have, more than which of the top 10 firms he's working with.

Source(s): I am a "Advisor"...with 7 licenses, 5 certifications, etc etc. Not with Edward Jones...but considered the company as an option in the past.

Edward Jones has a great reputation in the investment arena for conservative investment options. They are one of the largest Brokers in the US and have more offices than any other broker.

They concentrate on Mutual Fund investing, but have a good record for stock picks. They are considered "full service" and are directly competing against Merrill Lynch, UBS etc.

Their brokers are more inclined than most to get involved in a investment plan.... vs. just selling investments.

Bottom line: Edward Jones is a major player, well known in the industry. I believe they won the JD Powers #1 raking in 2007 for their services.

Source(s): I use Charles Schwab and ThinkOrSwim. I'm more of a do it yourself investor.30+ years investing in stocks and mutual funds.
