Paralytic Agents?

This is for a project I'm helping someone with.

What sort of chemicals would cause temporary paralysis when injexted/injested/inhaled?

    Paralytic agents

    Interfere with transmission at neuromuscular end plate

    Two mechanisms of neuromuscular blockade exist

    1)Non-depolarizing agents (Acetylcholine antagonists)

    Prototype: Curare

    Agents used clinically

    Vecuronium

    Pancuronium

    Other agents: Tubocurarine, Metocurine, Gallamine

    2)Depolarizing agents (Acetylcholine agonists)

    May also occur with cholinesterase inhibitors

    Prototype: Succinylcholine

    Agents used clinically

    Succinylcholine
