When is the best time (fall or spring) to plant agapanthus? Earwigs in dahlias?

I was going to put up a vase of some beautiful dahlias, until I saw the earwigs comming out of the bloom. Is there a way to get rid of earwigs before bringing the blooms indoors?

To get rid of earwigs (ewww!) in a flower bed you can use regular water-in ant poison, or go "green" like I do, and use the product called D.E. Diatomaceous Earth can be found at Lowe's for about $8. It's a white soft, soft powder that is harmless to humans and pets, but deadly to critturs, including fleas! I even use it ON my dogs and their bedding....

Sprinkle it right on the blooms and leave it for a day or so. Then water your blossoms well to rinse off the powder, and voila! Earwig-free dahlia blossoms!

As for agapanthus, "Agapanthus can be grown either in a container or in the ground. When planted in the ground, they like an organic mulch such as shredded wood. Those growing in small containers are difficult to keep sufficiently moist. If you repot them into larger containers or plant them in the ground, the soil will have to be extremely well-drained. The fleshy corms cannot stand soggy soil."

If you live in the south, then you can plant them in the fall. We treat them as perennials down here. If you live in the north, you'll need to wait until spring to plant, as they can't handle the freezing temperatures.

    Happy Gardening!

i'm interior the midwest right here. For my 40-tree orchard, i've got got here upon that early fall (because of the fact the severe temperature keeps to be under 80) has a tendency to be the suitable time, because of the fact the timber get an probability to be sure some feeder roots and a leap commence interior the spring. right here interior the midwest, that's an considerable commence so as that timber can stay on the merciless July/August summer time climate. that's in all probability extremely much less of a undertaking interior the northeast, yet i could propose that the leap commence on the transforming into season would not injury.
