I had a C-section after being induced, so I've gone through labor (pushing included) and section. Don't have the section. It took me 7 weeks to have no pain left. That's a lot longer than it takes to heal after vaginal birth. My son will be a year old next month and I still get pains occasionally inside at my incision site. After the section, there is such painful gas, your belly is on fire, you can't laugh or cry or cough without pain. And you bleed just like after a vaginal birth anyway. You have to stay longer in the hospital. It costs about 1 1/2 times as much. Shall I go on? I hope I've convinced you or that someone else will be able to. I wouldn't trust a doctor that let me have an elective. It's unethical.

Wow i cant believe the answer coming from a nurse...

U r suppose to give NON judgmental opinions, not completely shut down the idea to someone just asking for advice.

I had a c section, for medical reasons, and i dont feel robbed.

Yes it is major surgery and does take longer to heal, but i feel my answer shouldnt sway u in either direction, this is something u have to decide urself, look online there is plenty of proper information and not just other peoples opinions to look into. I personally prefer to have a c section, my first child i had an emergency c section due to a small pelvis. Im electing to have another one with my current pregnancy as i dont want to go thru labour and pushing and then to b told i have to have another c section, and my dr's agree.

I dont really know what to suggest to u, as this is really something u need to decide on ur own. I dont feel it is as big of a deal as some of the comments made, but it is personal opinion.

Some people take longer to heal than others.

Like a lot of things, its how ur mind is set at the time, if ur already against it to begin with, then the whole process is going to b more uncomfortable and can delay ur healing.

Just take each day as it comes.

I found my experience to b completely fine and recovered well.

don't do it!!! I am a nurse, and if you think your saving your self the pain and trouble of child birth you are terribly wrong!!

C-section is an abdominal surgery that comes with all the risks of any surgery, the pain from a c-section last from 2-6 weeks while natural birth pains only last 3-4 days, your uterus will never be the same after it's been cut, there are chances for adhesion and if you plan to have more than 2-3 kids, Dr's will not recommend this for you, many women feel they are robbed of their experience of feeling like a true woman after c-section, many women develop postpartum depression with c sections, the anesthesia can affect your infant

Don't Do IT!! Only if it medically necessary!!

Yes, it's a bit crazy to have elective C-section. It takes much more time to recover after you give birth, there's a much greater risk of complications, and you're in a lot more pain afterwards than with regular childbirth.

My sister-in-law had one because she had to and her scar "leaked" for weeks afterwards. Yuk! She was also much more miserable after birth than I was after mine.

yes i did with my second son. My first boy was really big and i had him natural so it was REALLY bad so i decided to have a c section with the second one who was also big. if i had normal size babies then i would have liked to go natural so i don't know what your reason is but if you're having a big baby then i would have a c section otherwise go natural. recovery is much quicker, you can excerises quicker too.
