Say Rudy and Hilary get their respective nominations. Should the religious right back a 3rd party candidate?
Think Nader 2000. In a move in line with all ideologicly backed movements the left embraced a conflict theoris approach to change. That is that they tried to upset things so much as to ste up a new US political dialectic. Needless it was a horrible failure. Should the far right (religious right/ values voters) try the same thing? Will it be an equaly abysmal failure as nader 2000 was for the left?

If the right goes with a third candidate, they will be ensuring a Democratic victory. I think the Democrats are going to whip up on them in the '08 election anyway, but that would surely seal the deal.

I hope so. Then there would be an opening for a REAL independent left party, a LABOR party, unlike Nader and his Greens.
With the pro-business forces split three ways, a labor party might actually WIN, beating the corporate Democrats and Republicans, AND the right-wingers in the "Christian" party.
Of course, a labor party might then split between the "business as usual" union leaders and the socialists... but it would still be better than what we have now.

What's interesting about Rudy is while all of the major candidates have flip-flopped on these issues Rudy, unlike Thompson and Romney, has made it clear that he will not let them control him on the issue of abortion, which means that they will lose power in the party compared to when GWB was leading the party, I think they may have interest in defeating Giuliani as to reclaim power in the party, being able to say they need those conservative votes if a moderate lost, and being able to fire up supporters against Hillary possibly. They don't go wild for a candidate if they don't like them, they liked Reagan, they weren't crazy about Bush 41 or Dole, and they liked Bush 43, so if backing a third party candidate would knock off Rudy and give them an opening to reclaim power in the GOP I wouldn't be surprised.

The GOP is not that stupid. They'll eventually come to their senses and realize that Ron Paul is the only man that can keep their party in the White House.

Religious right? Are you saying that the left is Satanic?

No the "Prolifers" need to support life by adopt the 108 million orphaned children and value all women regardless of color so that they won't need abortions.

No, because it will split the vote.
The lesser of the 2 evils are Republicans. Vote Republican.
