¿Por que algunas personas dicen "el manito" refiriendose a una mano pequeña? si?

si cuando hablan de una mano grande dicen "la manota"

si es la mano, en diminutivo es: la manita ¿o no?

    No suena bien "el manito" yo creo q se dice "la manito" ya que es una mano pequeña.
