Biking in New York?

I'm planning to visit New-York by bus for one-two days. I'm thinking to take my foldable bike.

Is New-York city bike-friendly? Is it it easy to ride a bike around?

Thanks!

There are good bike paths in many parts of the city. Central Park is one, and there are also many stretches labeled "Greenways" throughout the boroughs.

If you wish, you can take a bike on certain mass-transit vehicles outlined in the following MTA Q/A:

*Not sure how compact a foldable bike is when folded up, but if it takes up a great deal of space, avoid doing this during peak travel hours. If it's compact, however, use mass transit in combination with the bike to form a great personal transportation combo!

Scary to ride a bike in the city streets - very crowded and the taxis are nuts. Central Park is a fabulous place to ride and car free on weekends. Also you can ride almost the entire length on Manhattan on the west side along the Gudson river - it fabulous...take your bike

Being from New Jersey the place dirtbikes and ATV's are loathed i will relate. in case you are going to be able to desire to commute on the line attempt to make it as short as achievable, shop it in good kit and lug it down the line so which you're actually not shattering domicile windows as you bypass by! And regardless of you do shop transferring! it rather is the place distinct people shrink to rubble. whilst my acquaintances and that i bypass driving, we bypass by deepest materials, state materials, regardless of...yet we continually stay on the pass. no longer something will carry rangers on Raptor 660's to you swifter than striking around a interior of reach too long and ripping issues up.

They try in some places, but biking in NY is like driving in NY. Unless you've done it before, its not recommended. We usually get a few deaths a year of cyclists getting hit by cars , trucks or busses.

Oh yeah it's great, you don't even need a helmet. And all the taxis, buses and other cars will totally yield to you. Good luck!

I wouldn't do it. You will be taking your life in your hands. It's scary enough to drive there.
