Depends on where you will be in Detroit. If you are downtown, then check out any of the bars down off of Woodward, (from Wayne State down to the river), the casino's are alright to check out, Windsor ON is right across the river and there is good bars there. ( a little younger crowd though)

The suburbs all have their good spots. Anywhere from Mt Clemens, Pontiac, Troy, Canton, Novi. All places have things to do and places to party.

Remember, most places are open till two a.m. so if you wanna party all night, you would have a hard time finding somewhere to do that unless someone you know, knows their way around the city.

By the way, if you ever have a hard time finding a party, then just go to a strip club. There's many of those all around the city.(mostly on all the border streets 8 mile, michigan ave, telegraph)

good luck, be safe, and have fun.

Sorry don't know the hotels available but if you're here and want to see the Pistons play, Detroit and Windsor are not good choices. The Palace, where the games are played is north of Det. and relativly far from Windsor. Pontiac is less than a mile for the Palace and about 20 miles north of Det. There are a lot of places there to party and it's safe and not too big a city at all. The area has tons of hotels, and night life. Rochester, Birmingham, Royal Oak, Farmington etc are all close suburbs that are safe and have a lot to offer.

Detroit just opened MGM Casino and Hotel and it is awesome. I would spend an evening there. They have a few clubs some gambling and great dining plus you can stay there. No reason to leave. Stay in Downtown there is also no reason to go to the outskirts of Detroit or the suburbs.

Cool pubs/bars: Old Sheleleigh, Foran's, HockeyTown Cafe, Pulse, Northern Lights. Catch a hockey game at Joe Louis Arena if you can. They have free shuttles to the game from lots of bars and restaurants too.

You should only hang out in Downtown Detroit. There are all sorts of people down there and there are plenty of activities for u to do. Other than Downtown, you are asking for trouble. I know because I have lived in Detroit all my life. There is nothing there for anyone besides a steady job and going Downtown. Please take my advice. Please.

Are you going to be staying downtown Detroit? If so there are lots of cool bars downtown. Go down by Comerica Park there is lots to do by there.
