How do we keep the smoke smell from my neighbor's home from invading ours?
We live in a town home that is next door to two HEAVY smokers. It smells like cigarettes in our home very strongly - windows open or shut. We feel like we've tried everything - we've lined the inside of our vents with dryer sheets, we caulked the basement (as there were some small gaps in the dividing wall), we even lay wash clothes over the vents in the two worst rooms and STILL our home smells like we smoke 5 packs a day (neither of us smoke at all, ever). We have air freshners that cannot keep the smell masked... HELP!

Move. There is no way to defeat that smoke and it will get worse in winter. Soon all your belongings will smell like that.

to be honest I don't think it's your neighbors, and if it is you're living in poorly made town home. It may be the tenants that lived in your apt before you did. The best way to get that smell out is to kilt your walls and ceilings if you can. It gives you that new home smell. Also there is smoke away sprays that you can put in your car I would try it in your apt...spray it on the carpets, curtains, and in the ac unit or vents. Try that a few times for a month or two. If you still smell that yes it is your neighbors and there's nothing you can do

how do you know how much 5 packs a day smells like? buy a car,leave the engine running 24/7.that will take away the smell of the cigarettes,then you can complain about cars polluting your sad lives.

you could put fans in the window backwards but it is hard to get rid of the smell you could also try air filters
