Display image is black???
I've read all the same question and answers, none of them useful to me! I use latest version of YM in 2 others PC (one at home and one at office) but they have the same problem! My display image is always black, even I use image or yahoo avatar! My chat friends only see a black piece in my display image (I'm visible of couse).

Hope this helps:
It's just possible you or
your friend may have a corrupt display image file. Don't worry, though -
it's not as bad as it sounds. Usually, deleting the cache files makes
everything good as new. It takes teamwork, though--both you and your
friend need to follow the directions below:
1. Close the Messenger program, if you currently have it running.
2. Go to your desktop and double-click on "My Computer."
3. Click on "C: drive."
4. Go to:
- C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\cache\Avatars
- C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\cache\Icon
5. Highlight the files in the above folders and press the "Delete" key
on your keyboard.
6. Sign in to Messenger and you should be all set!
PLEASE NOTE: When uploading a picture to display, it's really important
you make sure that the file name has no commas, dashes, or periods. The
picture file should only contain words.
I was having the same problem. The other thing you could do it to change you picture, hope this helps.
