Why do we generally "react" only rather than 'act'?
If some one tells us good, we feel happy. If some one is harsh to us , generally we are angry. In short we react, we do not act. How to break this habit? Why can't we smile even when some one annoys us? Can spirituality help in this, how?

I believe it is better to approach the situation at hand not in terms of 'breaking'. Rather, it is it is diving deeper into the mechanics of the event(s). We identify ourselves a lot with emotions and thoughts, forgetting often that brain is but a tool, and emotions-feelings - means of communication.
How to stay focused in the innermost core of our Soul?
Of course there are techniques that help to attain this state, and different traditions and cultures suggest different methods, appropriate for different timelines in history, different places-spaces in this 3D world, and different people of course, as each of us is absolutely unique. It all boils down to being able to WITNESS, without judgment. It is that 'spot' in me that witnesses me being happy and it witnesses me being mad, and witnesses how others re-act, and witnesses all the events around.
Learning to act instead of reacting is a gradual process, and may happen just like that, or take years to master.
How it works for me, is this: I see the environment in all its beauty of motion and stillness, and although feeling connectedness with All (water as element), I am absolutely detached (a distinct waterdrop) in watching-witnessing all the motion/stillness. I fix it, like a photo camera: "ok, click, it's here." When the emotion occurs in me, I fix it also: "ok, click, I see my emotion." When the thought occurs, same thing. Like I read your quest and 'clicked' its presence close enough for my brain to notice. As I do have some experience of musing on the same thing, I then consciously make a decision to respond you. This is REaction, right?
My writing you is reaction, yet I made a choice to do so, consciously, it did not pop out without me allowing it to happen. If I got mad at someone and let anger overwhelm me, throwing a heavy pan into this person's head, it would be a reaction also, right? Would it be a similar reaction as compared to my writing you? No. Why? Not only because of the good versus evil intentions. Mainly, because the pan-throwing would be an uncontrollable move. As I see it, we cannot quit reacting, but we can change the quality of reactions: instead of letting the brainwaves and emotional responses take over our lives, it is better for us to learn to master the perception of the world consciously. Once we fix the event as a witnessing soul, we move on to deciding whether we need to respond anyhow at all. If we decide we do, then we act, from the bottom of the soul. This usual reaction is transformed into action, because we do not rely on the emotion and even a mindprocess as much as the inner feeling of what should be actually done. Does it make sense?
Here is a little story for illustration:
A pilot in the plane, flying a plane.
He has to report about the course of the flight
to the dispatcher on the ground, speaking aloud.
This is how his report sounds:
"Me 35th, Me 35th, on the courseline such-and-such.
On the left, I see the cirrus cloud.
I stay on the course.
{some time passed}
Me 35th, me 35th, on the course line (coordinates).
On the right, I see the flying saucer.
I stay on the course.
{some time later:}
Me 35th, me 35th, on the course line (coordinates).
I see an angel approaching from the left.
I stay on the course."
See?!
Whatever happens, the pilot is IN CHARGE
of making decisions.
Do any emotions occur? You bet!
Do some thoughts cross his mind when he sees
these different objects? I think, millions in a second :).
Can and/or does he have to fight over quitting all the emotional and thinking process???
It is an absolutely impossible task, he could never master it!!! But what happens in this situation, is a clue on
how to master reactions, changing them into conscious reactions. Let us conclude:
For the pilot, do the thoughts of changing the course occur?
Possible. He might wish to chase the saucer, or slow down to see the Angel closer. Yet, he makes a choice to stay on the course. This is not reaction, this is action, is it not?
If he followed the saucer, it might have been
1. reaction as a response to his emotions and thoughts
occuring upon the meeting of the event;
2. action if he witnessed his own emotions and thoughts, fixed their presence(existence), and then decided to follow the saucer for some particular reason.
More or less, like this.
Now, you might ask: is an action also a calculated motion?
I do not think so. I believe, in the stage of being a Witness, we are capable of detaching our own selves from emotions and thoughts (that continue successfully their existence, even becoming more intense), thus freeing space within us for the INSIGHT. Some call it the 6th sense, or other nice names, but it is something which occurs to us as the correct way to respond to life, at the given moment in the given time. It happens so momentarily: we cannot possibly have enough time to think and calculate, or feel and get emotionally overwhelmed. It is like a blessing of wisdom dawning on us. This is also action, as I see it.
Thank you for your quest, nice conversing with you :)

Drunvalo Melchizedek goes into explaining the matrix very deeply. I like the saying: When a Disciple is ready, Master finds him(her). Who is the Master? YOU NAME IT !!!!! :) Namaste - Anonymous1 decade ago
We do it because of the triggers we built into ourselves over time. We have trained ourselves to respond to certain stimuli/triggers and like being caught in a loop we repeat the same pattern over and over again. It does not require conscious thought. The trigger is all that is needed to recreate the earlier scenes and all the feelings that were involved. We have to stop ourselves on the next occasion and ask ourselves why we are feeling this way. Only when the problem is directly addressed can you get anywhere. It's not easy, but it is possible. We don't get this way overnight and it doesn't go away overnight. But, it will go away.

All we are is a big computing device. We react to all sorts of inputs and we bias them. Our emotions are the byproduct of countless little biases. This is good. This is bad. He's cool, she's a witch. I like that show, I can't stand that one, etc.
Being able to stop in the middle of a negative reaction takes a lot of "self-awareness" and strength. Being able to balance that "programmed" negative response with a postive perspective is the secret to mastership of one's own mind. No longer will one just react to input, but one now oversees this process, intelligently countering negatives with positives.
When we realize that all good must emerge from evil and vice-versa, it helps to put all things in perspective. Spirituality is basically non-physical beliefs and undertakings. If spirituality can help one see the good in something bad and help balance one's reactions, great. For some the same epiphany can be had just by looking very closely at themselves and how they react to things. You're already at the gate when you realize that life is simply a string of reactions to input and environment.
Now, once you master your reactions, the world can no longer manipulate your emotional state and more "action" will emerge in your "reactions."
Good luck!

if u analyse your question you will get the answer yourself that we generally " RE-ACT" to situations rather than ACT. the actions to various situations are already inbuilt, we only reproduce them as and when required. the response is innate in us which is made externally veiwed only for reaction. instead of trying to break a habit or create a new one its better that u start feeling good, that you are you and you do what ever you do and what no one else can think to. BE YOURSELF , NO NEED TO CHANGE.

I tried to file a lawsuit against a white collar criminal affiliated with Supplemental Warfunding back in '06. From what i can tell, at that time, only a terrorist can have a verichip implanted w/o consent or knowledge. I guess my seeking to collect on performed work made me a terrorist-AND IT DIDN'T HAPPEN UNDER THE CONSTITUTION!

Psychological Reaction is for the most part a conditioned response . It has nothing to do with spirituality . We learn how to repsond to stimuli . We can retrain ourselves to respond differently . For instance to exercise rather than eat when we feel lonely .

Concern yourself with the approval of others, and you become their prisoner.
The only reason people react in a negative way when someone says something mean-spirited to them, is because they care about what the other person thinks about them. I don't care if you like me or hate me, I am not changing who I am because I am happy like this.

This question appears to deal with generalities...God deals in the truth...True believers have faith Gods plan is perfect and loving...it is all good...the devil lies...Jesus is the truth...Every moment is a lesson and a blessing...When we live in Gods spirit, earthly matters are not a concern, other than to try to live the life Jesus showed us...He suffered and died for us to make it possible...Gods grace demands our total faith and praise...
