How long does the discount last in NY State?
The 10% you get for taking it.
When did this change, because I could have sworn it was for life. Otherwise, why would somepeople pay more then 300 dollars?

The discount will remain for as long as the "youthful operator" surcharge remains. Typically that is until you reach the age of 25.
I work for an insurance company, and that discount is never manually removed, but rather automatically removed when certain criteria is met. In this case, the previously mentioned surcharge falls off. (Always at renewals)

should be forever. once you get a discount, they don't take it away from you. so if you get a drivers ed discount, it should stay on your policy at least until you reach your next level of discounts (usually after three years of accident free driving)
