YA users give stars to certain questions to express their interest in the question.

    Just a few points:

    - the star is given to a specific question that is considered as "interesting" in some way, not to a user.

    - stars can be given and taken away from a question, with no points earned or lost on either part (Asker of the starred Question or User giving the Star).

    - When you star a question, your name will appear in the "See who starred this Q" box.

    - Qs with many stars will be listed in the "Popular" questions tab.

    - The Questions you star will appear in the "Network activities" of your Contacts; thus, if you want them to see a particular question, you can Star it.

    - The Qs you star will be listed in your Profile page, but not the stars that you have received, so I have no way of knowing how many stars I've got.

    - asking other users to star your Qs is soliciting and could be cause for a violation notice, so I suggest you don't do it from now on (note: I would NOT report somebody for this!)

Hope this helps. Here's more about stars and other YA features:

i are conscious of it became puzzling when I truthfully have first joined to three weeks in the past. The factors are used for tiers. the better your point the fewer dilemma as an occasion you may in basic terms ask 5 questions consistent with day for me i'm able to ask 10 because of the fact i'm at point 2. i'm able to respond to 40 questions on the same time as you may in basic terms answer 20 questions consistent with day.

A star means that someone thought your question was interesting. They star it, so then their friends can see it and answer it as well. They have no point value, and you can only give so many a day.

Hi. I think that the reason why people gets stars, is because it may be an interesting question, something that gets peoples attention, and they star it, so that a lot of other people will see it and answer it too. Here's you a star! I hope you have a great day!

Can you answer this too please?

    Thanks!
