How do I find a Burglar/Fire Protection System Installer not connected to Monitoring Company?

I would like to have an alarm system installed in my house using an independent contractor so I can buy a better system for cheap and then negotiate my monitoring contract with a company. My electrician says he doesn't do it. Is this unheard of in the industry? What kind of contractor would do this kind of installation?

The installers associated with a company have two advantages:

    1) They install the kind of equipment that the company uses and supports.

    2) If they don't work for the company itself, they probably have a financially desirable contract with the company.

So the independent installer has no contract, gets no kickbacks, and runs the risk of an unhappy customer when you find out the monitoring company wants something different than what he installed.

You are looking for an in house alarm and not a central alarm. Did you try on-line for burglar/fire alarm. Most electrical companies know where to purchase them and install them. I think your electrician didn't want to touch it. Try on-line for independent installers. I don't think they need an electricians license> Why get a central alarm They have systems that dial the police from you phone automatically. When the alarm goes off the central alarm gets the call and then calls you police who then dispatch a unit to check . I think it is around 5 minutes before the police are notified after all the calling is made. Check it out

Who is the Electrical Contractor you spoke with. Most Electrical Contractors I deal with install alarm systems with no service tie-ins. Contact another Contractor.
