Domestic Helpers from Philippines?

I have been 'hunting' for a maid to take care of my almost 3 year old son. Walking to almost 8 agencies gave me some ideas but I don't quite trust the agency.

Can someone from the Philippines please tell me ->

1. Is it true that it is very very difficult to apply for a passport?

2. The waiting time for the application is almost more than a month?

Passport application is only 5 days maximum provided you already have your birth certificate from NSO (takes 3 days to get one) and your NBI certificate (takes one day to get one - which includes queueing for hours).

One month is really really long. Unless of course the guy's birth certificate has not been registered/registered late so an additional paper is required. Even then one month is reaaaaaaaaally long.

---if you have friends who have employed a nanny for their kids and trusts her, take reference from her. She can put forward a name of her relative or friend or even a sister.

You can even phone the NSO to get a passport. They will send one after paying the fee in a bank of their choice and wait less than a week if they have a copy of the birth certificate.

the visa takes a looongg time. your son will be starting school by then and you don't have the reason to hire a nanny by then. hmppppp.
