Why no one has the Ontario flag outside their house? In Quebec people have the prov. flag, Why not in Canada?

In US, people hang their flags as a show of being patriotic, and to show their support for their government and the war. I think it goes overboard to the point of being rediculous. (just my opinion)

Quebec people hang their flag because they're proud of being French. A lot of people would like to see it become a country, apart from Canada. They aren't happy being a part of Canada. Quebec people had a vote, and the majority voted to stay as a part of Canada.

I am SO against some of the Quebec laws, concerning the English language. This country is supposed to be a bilingual country, but in Quebec, if an English shop owner has a sign outside his business larger in English, than in French, the shop owner gets fined. To me, that is so biased and prejudiced, that it should be illegal.

Imagine making all the little foreign shops in downtown Toronto hang their signs larger in English than in Chinese, Korean, Greek, etc, or they'd be fined? Just ludicrous I think.

I say let Quebec separate if it makes them happy, but then don't ask for all the benifits from living within the boundaries of Canada. (health care, welfare, etc)

If you want to be your own country, then support yourself in every way.

Now, to answer your question. I am Canadian, and damned proud of it, but I don't feel the need to hang my flag off my door or car to say it or think it. It's an inner feeling, and I don't need the flag announce it to the world.

I live in Ontario, but I was raised in the Montreal area. People fly the Fleur de Lys in Quebec because they believe they are a Nation AND because they do not respect Canada.

I have a dual flag holder attached to a post on my front proch and will often fly two Maple Leaf flags. Sometimes I will take one down and put up a sports team banner. This was something that I saw many people do when I lived in the US - they would fly the Star Spangled Banner and a seasonal banner (Halloween, St. Patrick's Day, Spring, Fall, etc.) or a banner for their favorite team.

Next summer I will buy an Ontario flag - Canadian Tire sells them.

Note: I live in Loyalist Township and some people here fly the Union Jack, but that pisses me off because they don't also fly the Maple Leaf. The Maple Leaf should always be flown in Canada whenever the flag of another country (or any province) is flown.

I wouldn't put up a province of Ontario flag in front of my home. First of all, it's ugly. It's got a Union Jack (hello multiculturalism is now here!), a red background (provincial red tape?), a little red and white cross (yea go and rub it in--our universal health care) and this three little three-pronged plant (weed?) (poison ivy?). What were the MPPs on when they voted to accept this flag?

And another thing, the Ontario flag is too hard to find to purchase. I rather fly my Canadian Maple Leaf flag when the weather turns dry as not to leave it too long to the elements. It has more significance than does the Ontario flag.

I don't blame the Quebecers for wanting to fly their provincial flag to show their unity and pride within their culture. The Newfoundlanders do the same thing. Where I live (Toronto), many of my neighbours fly their mother country's flag, so I would see the Italian, Brazilian, Greek, Jamaican, Korean and many other countries flags on the front porch.

People in Quebec must like living in Canada, at least 51% of them do.

If you want to fly an ON flag, go for it, I'm trying to find a cheap flagpole to fly the Canada flag

One house I've passed on my journey flies not a Canadian flag, or a Ontario flag, but a TML flag, I shed a tear :)

Most people will fly the National flag...

The reason why Quebecers tend to fly the Provincial flag is a matter of culture. They are raised to see the flag of Quebec as a National flag.

Besides, if I were to fly a Provincial flag, despite the fact I'm in Manitoba, it wouldn't be a Manitoba flag. :D

I haven't seen a lot of Quebec flags on private property in Montreal on recent visits. Perhaps there are more in smaller towns.

Canadians do not have to copy everything americans do ..IN england and many other countries they do not all wave their flags outside their houses either !!!

Americans are very proud of their country and you will see flags everywhere in the USA and the same goes for French Canadians. I live in New Brunswick and in the French Acadian towns and villages they have their flags everywhere from telephone poles to bumber stickers to sweatshirts. I assume it is a culture thing. The same as in Quebec. As for the rest of Canada you hardly see a Canadian flag anywhere. Maybe Canadians could be a bit more patriotic.

quebec wants to be its own country. just a few years ago, it was before parlament and was shot down. they will try again. every thing legal is in french instead of english and this is a good example why the united states should pass a law that says english is the only language before it gets out of hand

people from Quebec think they live in a separate country so they don't fly the Canadian flag,i think it is disrespectful
