Mother or step mother ?

I am completing college application. I got stuck on the mother's name.

I am living with my step mother in USA but my mother is in my country, so should I put my mother's name in the application or my step mother's name in the application?

If you are supported financially and physically live with your step-mother, then you should probably put her down.

If they needed info on your bio Mom, they would have specified that.

I think that you should probably put in your real mother's name. Your step-mom is not your real mother. She is just the person that you are living with and the person that your dad married. So put your real mother's name in the blank. Good Luck for college.

u should put mother's name in the application which will never change. ur step mother's name may change if ur father decides to marry another woman.

For any documentation of this kind you would put your birth mothers maiden name.

It is based on birth not living situation.

    Good luck in College!

It's common to put the person that you live with, since they usually want your guardian's name. However, if you felt too uncomfortable with it you could put both, and just do a brief summary of what the difference is.

on my stepsons forms i used to put both my name and his bio mother's name with the word stepmother after my name. usually these forms need this information in case of emergency.
