wouldn't you think modern israeli culture incorporated into american jewry can enhance judaism in the diaspora

    Perhaps it can add some meaning to the lives of irreligious American Jews. However, the culture can not enhance the Judaism of religious American Jews.

    Oh, God, no. Israelis have become what they are because of the hard life they've led, but they're not much of an example for Judaism in general, much less that in the US. The ultra-orthodox nutcases are bad enough, but the aggressive personality of even the average Israeli is pretty tough to take. Most of our business here, religious and otherwise, isn't done with rifles and tanks.
