How can I heal my episiotomy? My episiotomy is 7 years old and has started to re-open.?
It's a small tear right now and doesn't appear infected, according to my husband. I am soaking it daily in epsom salts and trying not to lift or walk too much. I don't have health insurance and I'm pretty shaken up, as this was not supposed to happen. I have no idea how it happened. It hurts a lot sometimes too... I'm open to suggestions. I tried using tucks pads to wipe with but the tear is near the anus and it stings like crazy! Please help me.
I just want to thank all of your for your great advice and insight. I am planning to go to the clinic, free or not, as a start, but being at the first of the year, I'm trying to wait a little. It's not infected... so far.

You should have healed by now and the stitches have mostly dissolved by now. Any wound can re-open if put under enough stress. I am assuming this was your first baby so.... It might hurt like crazy. There is a reason why some doctors recommend waiting the full 6 weeks. That area, besides getting torn or cut was also stretched to beat the band and probably bruised a bit. Also make sure you are using protection if you don't want kids 9 months apart in age. And it can happen. My best friend in grade school had a pair of brothers that were born in the same year 9 months apart in age.

sounds like a hemorrhoid...however a friend of mine had to have hers "re-done" it was not fun and took longer to heal than the first time but in the end i think it was worth it
