Is it true that anyone can have an answer removed, without question?

I am told that anyone can have an answer removed and by the time that anyone actually reviews the removal, the question will be long gone as it is days later. Wouldn't that mean that Answers is a situation where askers can remove any answer that disagrees with them? Is it true, is that the removal process? Why should we participate in Answers if this is true?

Update:

Of course I do not disagree with personal attacks, or profanity, etc. being removed, but just to disagree it seems possible to have an answer removed. The review process is several days long so if you are vindicated, it appears that you answer is still lost as it is not longer to an unresolved question. I agree with rants, etc. being removed.

I am afraid that it is true. Your question can be reported and if it is its them removed. Sad, my friend, but true

Sadly it is true and there is nothing you can do about it. Just as an example, I had an answer removed, the other day that didn't violate any of the community guidelines.

This person asked what they should study in college, because they wanted to start their own business, but the it was a grammatical and spelling abortion the way she posted it; so I suggested that improving her spelling and grammar would be a good start in addition to a Business major. Needless to say, I was quite shocked to see I had received a violation notice for that.

I do this YA for fun, but I hate being violated for no reason. YA has an appeal process, but it's a waste of time, they never respond or reinstate your points even if you can prove you were wrong. I'm actually starting to get tired of YA.

It's true what you say. It doesn't have to even be offensive, or in violation in any way to be removed. Yahoo does not police the site. They rely on the members to do the work for them. So, if you have 2 members that don't agree with your point of view (or one who illegally has more than one account) report you, it's an automatic removal.

All it takes is for 2 people to report you, and your question/answer will be removed and you will be docked points. It's all a big game. Appealing does no good either.

Source(s): Been reported 3 times for minor non-offensive answers which were within the guidelines. Appeals have been ignored.

Seems so and sadly there is nothing you can do about it. They only say it was not an answer to the question are broke some other rules. Have read them and I have not yet broken one of them guidelines I thought but still have got violation notices. Seems if you say Alex Jones is a scare monger are conspiracy theorists that at times makes up newspapers you get a violation notice. So here it comes again bet I will get one again for saying Alex Jones and conspiracy theorists again. My proof of Alex Jones not been telling the truth is the following list of Newspapers in Scotland. You will see that in his movie Masters of Terror he mentions a newspaper which doesn't exist anywhere but in his made up world.

Any question or answer to a question that violates community guidelines is removed when a member reports it. This should be so. It is necessary to avoid the mess which sites like AOL forums have become. One sees nothing but rants, raves, flames and personal ad hominum attacks there.
