Did you ever get an email out of the blue from someone who is not in your YA network. . . .?

. . . with a message like, "I need advice, please contact me." It seems like if someone has something to ask you, they would just come right out and say it in the initial contact, wouldn't they? Just curious.

There are probably other reasons I'm not thinking about. What are your experiences?

Update:

Thanks, L. Jus' feelin' blue. This, too, shall pass.

Occasionally, but never open them, or yahoo ones unless there is strong indication of AGE and sex.

Without sounding somewhat "big-headed", yet I receive such emails all the time, in particular from the computers & Internet category of yahoo! answers.

While I do not fully expect such emails, I do promote the use of email through yahoo! answers and I myself love to remain in contact with members of the community through email. As a top contributor of the yahoo! answers category I also encourage users to save five points and email me their questions.

However one thing I love about yahoo! answers is the community, and I welcome all "kind" emails from anyone in the community. :)

    All the best

    cheers

Spam. I haven't received those, but I did receive an unsolicited mean email from someone out of network.

EDIT: I don't get any implied or explicit jokes from the character below me.

that is a first to me-normally emails out of the blue that i get are someone just trying to get a rise out of me or someone asking if its okay to connect on-i do think that they would just ask but maybe-i say maybe they want to find out first if you are willing to talk-cant hurt to find out----hope you had a very merry christmas---smile and enjoy the day

not quite, not quite out of the blue. either this person or I answered or asked a question and needed more information or wanted to insult, blast me.

    two-two has spoken.

(How come your avatar looks down...?) No I haven't, my answers and questions tend to be downers or jokes that no one gets, plus I'm not a top contributor like the answerers here, kinda odd...
