Does anyone still believe Dick Cheney's incredulous Iraq - 9/11 conspiracy theory?

"US President George W Bush has explicitly stated for the first time that there is no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved in the 11 September attacks."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3119676.stm

Why did Cheney make these erroneous conspiracy theory claims prior to the invasion of Iraq?

Why did Bush wait until after the invasion to set the record strait?

Update:

Crypto (below) So Americans worked in conjuction with Al-Q to hi-jack four planes and kill 3000+ people in the financial capital of the world.

OBL, who denied a priviledged lifestyle to fight the Russians in Afghanistan decided to work with Americans to launch an invasion into Afghanistan.

Update 2:

Jeff M (below) What does "hindsight" have to do with Cheney's lie? Crack kills...

Update 3:

Crypto (below) "WOW! You're dumb!"

I was refering to the actual hi-jackers who were witnessed taking flight lessons by dozens of average citizens vs the magic pixies you blame. What does the Mossud have to do with 19 Arab hi-jackers and OBL bragging about the attack?

President Bush had wondered immediately after the attack whether Saddam Hussein’s regime might have had a hand in it. Iraq had been an enemy of the United States for 11 years, and was the only place in the world where the United States was engaged in ongoing combat operations. As a former pilot, the President was struck by the apparent sophistication of the operation and some of the piloting, especially Hanjour’s high-speed dive into the Pentagon. He told us he recalled Iraqi support for Palestinian suicide terrorists as well. Speculating about other possible states that could be involved, the President told us he also thought about Iran.5

Wolfowitz contended that the odds were“far more”than 1 in 10,citing Saddam’s praise for the attack, his long record of involvement in terrorism, and theories that Ramzi Yousef was an Iraqi agent and Iraq was behind the 1993 attack on the World Trade Cen-ter.73 The next day, Wolfowitz renewed the argument, writing to Rumsfeld about the interest of Yousef’s co-conspirator in the 1995 Manila air plot in crashing an explosives-laden plane into CIA headquarters, and about information

from a foreign government regarding Iraqis’involvement in the attempted hijacking of a Gulf Air flight. Given this background, he wondered why so little

thought had been devoted to the danger of suicide pilots, seeing a “failure of imagination” and a mind-set that dismissed possibilities.7

and bush didnt wait until after the invasion he said it right up front he didnt think they were

Secretary Powell recalled that Wolfowitz—not Rumsfeld—argued that Iraq was ultimately the source of the terrorist problem and should therefore be attacked.66 Powell said that Wolfowitz was not able to justify his belief that Iraq was behind 9/11. “Paul was always of the view that Iraq was a problem that had to be dealt with,” Powell told us.“And he saw this as one way of using this event as a way to deal with the Iraq problem.” Powell said that President Bush did not give Wolfowitz’s argument “much weight.”67 Though continuing to worry about Iraq in the following week, Powell said, President Bush saw Afghanistan as the priority.68

President Bush told BobWoodward that the decision not to invade Iraq was made at the morning session on September 15. Iraq was not even on the table during the September 15 afternoon session, which dealt solely with Afghanistan.69 Rice said that when President Bush called her on Sunday, September

16,he said the focus would be on Afghanistan, although he still wanted plans for Iraq should the country take some action or the administration eventually

determine that it had been involved in the 9/11 attacks.70

At the September 17 NSC meeting, there was some further discussion of “phase two” of the war on terrorism.71 President Bush ordered the Defense Department to be ready to deal with Iraq if Baghdad acted against U.S. interests

It's about time. Only the most brain-dead members of our society still believe that Iraq had anything to do with 9/11. You can thank Mr. Cheney and Fox News for that.

"Why did Cheney make these erroneous conspiracy theory claims prior to the invasion of Iraq?"

Because it makes a case for going to war there, a better one than "we think they might have WMD, and they want to use them against us"

"Why did Bush wait until after the invasion to set the record strait?"

Because once we're there the debate on what we should do is over. Now the debate is what do we do next.

Prior to the 2000 presidential election George W. Bush expressed a desire to take down Saddam Hussein. The 9/11 was merely an excuse to temporarily give us an excuse to do that. While not planned by Bush and his people the 9/11 was just the excuse they needed to go after Saddam. Had it not happened they would have found another reason to go after Hussein.

Not me! Many clues lie in the infamous document authored in 1991 by Paul Wolfowitz and others titled " Doctrine of Preemption" (vetoed in '91 by then president Bush 41)in which they sought and later received a "viable" excuse to invade Iraq and unleash the military-industrial complexes War Machine and to further secure oil resources (they already controlled Saudi Arabia). The frightening thing is I believe they are using this same scenario coupled with fear-mongering to ramp up the rationale and support for invading Iran. In their devious and evil brains these invasions are a win-win whereby they further secure the world's oil resources, their corporate cronies reap HUGE profits and the fears of Israel are temporarily appeased. It makes a whole lot more sense than any of the fictitious and fallacious crap that Bush co. propagates.

Edit- Oh yeah, I almost forgot about Ahmed Chalibi {sp} their major source of information and "credible intelligence" who's main goal was to set himself up as the president of Bush co. Iraq, and in seeking this he fed us completely false and inflammatory information which was then sold to us and the rest of the world. It is VERY clear what Iraq was and is about, oil, money and domination, not partisan, just factual, observe!

9/11 was conceived, planned, funded and orchestrated by criminal zionists elements within the US gov't in conjunction with Mossad. It was staged as a FALSE FLAG pretext to garner support from Americans to launch a war on Islam for Israel. Americans would've never sent their sons and daughters off to die for Israel without 9/11.

Source(s): WOW! You're dumb! "MOSSAD" is like the Israeli CIA. Not al qaeda.
