In Howl's Moving Castle, what is the war about?

The film, not the book.

Ok i think it's becasue of this: when the girl sofi is walking towards the bakery where her sister works in the background listen when she passes some guys holding a newspaper and talking and they'll mention how the prince from the other country has gone missing and later towards the end remember when the scarecrow becomes a prince? well you know how the witch of the i forgot saids to him to go back to his country and stop the idiot war i think it's becasue they're looking for him and didn't know that a spell had been cast on him thus starting the war

It's just two different countries. The movie itself, however, revolves around Howl's life. Since he is a wizard he is obligated to participate in the war.

The movie isn't about the war. The war is just a backdrop of the movie. The movie is really about Sophie and Howl. Howl runs from his past, and Sophie is trying to find her purpose in life, and the two end up being linked by destiny... or something like that.

Anyway I'm a huge Miyazaki fan.

  • I don't know, but I love the movie! Howl rocks!

    Who knows?

That is what is so enjoyable. No one really knows what the war is about, just that there is one (usually for supremacy)
