An Islamic sweet sixteen?
My friend wants a big party, you know, a kind of coming of age sort of thing. Who doesn't? She was joking with me 'You know what? I want a bat mitzfah!' I was like 'But you're Muslim!' We were laughing but you could tell she was serious. Her parents are pretty strict so it can be too over the top like MTV style. Besides, she said she doesn't even know that many people! So I was wondering first of all, is there such thing as an Ethiopian or Islamic coming of age sort of traditional ceremony thing we could throw for her that would still be fun?

There is no real coming of age ceremony just bring some Islamic songs and chat.

Sure there is.
I had one, and all I did was bake a lot of good wholesome yummy food (or order) and then invite all my girl buddies and we watched movies, danced to music and took funny photo shots :D
It was awesome!!
Note: ofcourse if you have male members in the family just ask them to go out or something that night until lets say 12 o clock and so you can have your space :)
