Can my computer handle this program?

Well, I'm getting ProTools 7.4 and someone had told me that it might be too much for my computer to handle.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop.

Is it going to harm my computer?

Yes and no. It can handle PT 7.4.

However in the future I would look at the digidesign website for all the specs that PT requires. PT is very picky on how it wants to operate. Optimize your PC. Go over to the formus st digidesign, they are very helpful. (Its called user confrence.)

Look at how much ram you have and hard drive space.

    Right Click My Computer>Properties

Then look at the requirements for the program.

How much memory it uses and hard drive space.

Remember though, if you have say 512 MB of ram and open IE and it uses 50MB and then you open AIM and it used 25MB, etc etc....(made up the numbers).

I think if you go to this website, it should help you determine if you PC is compatible with the Pro Tools 7 application:
