Not necessarily the best place for me right now, since i'm at the point in my life where i want to do a lot of things and travel the world, but the place that i would like to go back to is my home state Hawai'i (Oahu and Big Island). I miss it a lot...but then i'm happy where i am right now. I would only go back to visit....for now.
It's beautiful there, weather is at a consistent temperature year round, beach is near by (depending where you live and what beach you want to go to), a lot of my relatives and friends still lives there...it's "relax"...kick back sorta place. No rush, hustle and bustle kinda atmosphere. I've only lived on Oahu and Big Island... Oahu is more of a city island (Oahu is known as the Gathering Place)...if you want lots of people or access (near by) to a lot of things like shopping malls, restaurants, city life, then Oahu would be good.
But if you want something more peaceful and quiet, like a small town sorta thing where you have to go into "the city" to find a shopping mall (or even certain things you want), then that would be the Big Island. It's more of a "country -living" theme.
There is so much more that i can tell you...but I would just say that you have to experience it yourself to know if you would like it or if it would be best for you. =)
Both are still beautiful in every way. :) I miss it a lot, but I honestly wouldn't live there till later on in life (yeah...more like when i finally settle or retire i guess) .

I live in South O.C., but I am from Texas and I LoVe It and MiSs It! I lived in Austin for awhile and it's awesome! You got the Hill Country, The Rivers and Lakes, Great Golfing Ranges, Lots of Cultural events and venues, and Great Live Music. Since you are retiring about a 30 min drive north on IH35 you will find Georgetown, Texas. It's actually know for being a retiring haven with lots of retiree's! It's beautiful look it up!

Ormond Beach Florida. I visited in September 1989 and prayed to live there one day. I did from 1992 until 1998. Yes it is close to Daytona and mayhem 4 times a year. The nearby forests, springs and parks make up for it. In 20 minutes you can be in the countryside or the Florida hammock.

Italy. Loved it there. The people are laid back, it's not as hustle and bustle as the states. The dollar conversion was good at the time but probably not so much anymore. The art, history and culture is fascinating. And you could travel all around Europe. I probably could live there again but I don't know if I could live there for good, there's just no place like home.

I love going back to the South Coast of Texas.
Its been a few years, but the people were great, the cost of living wasnt so high and the seafood you can't beat.
I like the way Texas has lots of festivals and differetn activities do go.

This depends so much on what "you" want! Do you need a "mall'? Can you shop 2 times a month? Life in "THE NORTHERN TOWN" is so peaceful and more rewarding, I do believeve! ( No-one believes me) Canada! The best place in the world!
Try it, "you" will like it!
If you really want "4" seasons, and the beauty of it all,Canada, is the best! My word!

I live in Salem, Oregon. I love it because it's not as complicated as true city living, but the people here are good. There's not too much that's usually happening, but I always manage to have a lot of fun.

I go to north carolina all the time and it is a wonderful place, it has a nice atmosphere and it is not to hott and not to cold. and when in doubt hurricanes dont hit there to far so you should be safe, plus it isnt to far away from where i live but i think it depends on where you are now cause if you have grand kids you should always come back to visit them

what is important to you? do you like fishing, hunting, i live in holbrook az. there are lots of lakes mountains to the south and west. navajo reservation to the north with canyon de chelly. i live 20 miles from the painted desert/petrified forest. there is lots of old west history here. oh and the movie cars was modeled after my town. the motel in the movie actually exists it's called the wig wam motel. it is small quiet sometimes boring. its one of those towns where most everybody knows everybody especially if you were born and raised here.
