is wicked the musical in New York City in Broadway good?

We decided to watch Mamma Mia, but the tickets were sold out, so we decided to watch another one and wondered if Wicked is good. If it isn't what else do you suggest that is in Broadway?

I have seen tons of shows on Broadway. Actually, I've seen both of these shows and enjoyed Wicked more. The first week back after the strike, Wicked grossed more money than any other show on broadway. It is a new classic and one of my favorites.

Depending on what you like here are some other suggestions..

    Musical comedies:

    - Legally Blonde: based on the movie

    - Avenue Q: Sesame St for adults--puppets having sex & singing about racism and porn...HILARIOUS

    - Putnam Spelling Bee: Really cute & funny. You can even volunteer to be a speller in the show (its closing in Jan.)

-SpamAlot: Monty Python's Search for Holy Grail in musical form...VERY FUNNY. (Clay Aiken is supposed to be in it starting in Jan)

    Dramatic Musicals

    Phantom: A Classic

Rent: Stage is better than the movie

Les Mis: Another Classic, its closing in Jan.

Fiddler on the Roof: Yet another classic

Color Purple: have not seen, is like the movie

    Disney Shows:

    - Little Mermaid: Brand New, just opened...never have seen, but most of their musicals are true to the movie plots

    - Lion King: AMAZING costumes: Circle of Life opening Number will make your jaw drop

    -Mary Poppins:cute, like the movie

My personal opinion is...if there is a movie of the musical, see a different show. You can always rent the movie (e.g. Hairspray, Rent, Chicago)

I have heard the current cast on the show "Ugly Betty" and I think both the Elphaba and Glinda have whiney voices and I was NOT impressed with them at all. The show in itself is a fantastic shows with great costumes and a fantastic story-line. I would see it, even with the second-rate title characters. Worth seeing. I recommend completely. also, "Legally Blonde" is super fun. The music is catchy and the costumes are real and it is modern and everyone can sing in the cast. The title character, Elle Woods, is played by the fabulous Laura Bell Bundy and she kicks major butt as Elle. that is at the Palace theatre I don't know what else is on Broadway in NY right now cause I live in San Diego, but I hope I helped. hope you find one you like!

Congrats on coming to the city! properly there are maximum of issues to be sure interior the huge NYC. while you're going for the greater underground aspects the place you may locate artwork galleries and costly yet cool clothing you may desire to verify out the Soho area, or Chelsea. you additionally should verify out the Marc Jacobs upload-ons save that's on Bleecker street and it has all of those much less high priced, relaxing upload-ons that are low priced. the ideal muscial you may desire to observe is, in my opinion, depraved basically because of the fact i've got faith that Legally Blonde is taken under consideration one of those disney form of included musical. I advise depraved or Mama Mia are the two classic musicals. in case you do like classical song I distinctly urge you in looking a reliable performace at Lincoln midsection, while you're actually not then, oh properly.

My daughter saw the Little Mermaid last week and she loved it (she took her 7 yr old half sister).

I saw an advance review about it some time ago, and it looks like the Disney folks have another hit on their hands.

Me, I've never been big on Musicals, although I did enjoy Jekyll and Hyde and Phantom...
